What is the Teacher Fund?

St. Mary School established a Teacher Fund in 2020 to help maintain the professional, hard-working, and faith-filled teaching staff that our school has long been known for. Each fiscal year, monies from the Teacher Fund are used to help provide competitive salaries for our teachers. The Teacher Fund will help ensure that our school is able to hire and retain dedicated teachers.

What is the goal of the Teacher Fund?

According to the Archdiocese of Seattle Office for Catholic Schools, salary schedules for teachers in our Catholic schools are to be determined and adopted at the local level. However it is advisable that the base salary, to be competitive, should be at 90 percent or more of the local public school schedule. Currently, St. Mary School teacher salaries are at approximately 63 percent of their local public school counterparts.  With the help of the Teacher Fund, our goal is to raise that figure to at least 80 percent within the next five years. 

Where does my donation go?

Your donation goes directly to the Teacher Fund, a restricted fund, which recognizes the time and talents of our dedicated teachers and educators. One hundred percent of your donation will help supplement salaries and benefits for our teachers.

Is my donation tax-deductible?

Yes, all donations to the St. Mary School Teacher Fund are tax-deductible. You will receive an immediate email receipt for donations through the website, as well as a mailed receipt for tax purposes at the end of the campaign.

What if I prefer to send in a donation?

Donations by check can be sent by mail or delivered to the school. Make your check payable to St. Mary School and send/deliver to: St. Mary School / 518 North H St. / Aberdeen, WA. 98520.  Please be sure to indicate that your donation is for the Teacher Fund.

Can I donate via credit card without using this website?

Yes, please contact us by email at advancement@saintmaryschool.org and a school representative will contact you by phone to complete the transaction.  

Is there a deadline to donate to the 2022 Teacher Fund Campaign?

You can donate anytime, but this current fundraiser will end on May 31, 2022.  Future Teacher Fund fundraisers will be held every two years.  The next Teacher Fund fundraiser will be Spring 2024!

Who can donate?

St. Mary School supporters, St. Mary School alumni, parishioners, current and past families, and anyone who supports teachers and Catholic education in Grays Harbor!
